A Generous Gift
On February 9, 2005, Knox-Metropolitan United Church in Regina presented Mutchmor Lodge and Hewitt Place with a generous $50,000 donation. This contribution was part of a larger endowment from Dr. Gerry Evenden, which Knox-Metropolitan chose to share with other ministries affiliated with the United Church in Saskatchewan.
Over time, Mutchmor Lodge expanded services offered, introducing assisted living in the 1980s and adding 50 more suites in 2005 to meet growing demand. We now offer a range of independent living suites and Senior Living 55+ apartments. In 1961, eight United Churches in Regina jointly sponsored the purchase of land for the original 48-bed facility, establishing the United Church Housing Corporation of Regina (UCHC) to provide affordable senior living. The Lodge was named in honor of Reverends Harry and James Mutchmor, two United Church of Canada ministers who founded the UCHC. Over time, Mutchmor Lodge expanded its services, introducing assisted living in the 1990s and adding 50 more suites in 2005 to meet growing demand.
Carole Bryant, Chair of the Knox-Metropolitan Board, emphasized the increasing need for affordable senior housing and the ongoing maintenance costs as key reasons for the donation. Because the Evenden endowment was an unconditional gift to Knox-Metropolitan, the church passed the funds forward in the same spirit, allowing Mutchmor Lodge and Hewitt Place to allocate them where they were most needed.
Thank you to G. Murray & Edna Forbes Foundation Fund at the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation for their contribution towards the accessible interior and exterior door at the Mutchmor Wing Entrance. We received a generous donation from this foundation and because of this, we were able to replace our interior and exterior door with accessible doors for our residents. Thank you very much!
Thank you!
Huge thank you to Grey Wolf Metal Art for creating this beautiful piece for our newly renovated dining room. This tree is approximately 4 feet by 4 feet. It is hung in the original dining room, over the fire place. This picture does not show how beautiful it really is! Come take a peek for yourself, and see where your future dining room might be.
